The Nike Zoom Rookie LWP had some big shoes to fill, following the immense success of the Air 1/2 Cent and the legendary yet short-lived Air Penny line. Nike designer Marc Dolce recently discussed the design inspiration and detailing behind the Zoom Rookie LWP, which launched the first release in the ‘Glow In The Dark’ colorway last week. Combining elements of the Air Penny line like Foamposite, a carbon-fiber shank plate, and inner bootie fit, the Zoom Rookie LWP is as much of a performance shoe as it is a Lifestyle sneaker, so it’s only a matter of time before we see these on the feet on an NBA player (Gilbert Arenas, perhaps?). Anyone planning to scoop any pairs up?
I couldn't find the release dates, but I know most of them are for 2012. If the funds is right, I wouldn't mind a few pairs. These are pretty nice! TC prolly rocking them glow in the darks at night huh

Ive got the luminous glows and the orlando colorway that wasnt in the pack.....havent seen a colorway i dont like yet

Never seen a Hybrid I liked so much, and in so many colorways.
The reds and GITDs are cool, but the Binarys and white/royals are on a whole 'nother level |

I'm gunna try to grab the Binary BLues this weekend, haven't copped a shoe since the Sprites and think I'm finally ready....when did the glow in the darks release? what type of release were they? (hoh, nikestore etc)

bout 2 weeks ago. not sure about other places but I know the only store that got em in my state (WA) was a mom & pop store and they only got 9 pairs. no NT or HOH

Seen the Binarys in person today in numerous stores, so I guess they're somewhat widely available...
Absolutely beautiful, but I can't stomach that $200 pricetag. Not for this shoe, not for any shoe anymore...Even if I had dispensable money, I'm just not THAT into sneakers anymore. |

Yeah, absolutely agreed.
Curious to how Nike comes up with the prices for these Penny hybrids (these + half cents)...I guess they each have Foamposite influences, so they roll with that price. Roll out some nice/limited CW's to get the ball (hype) rolling, and then pimp out a million others so even when they go on sale for ~$150, consumers think they're getting a deal... Shame, because I REALLY, REALLY like these...oh well... |
