Lebron has all the gifts, physical he has the speed agility and hops. Basketball IQ, he knows where everyone is on the floor. End of the day, he can't shoot (though he gets hot at times) or dribble, and REFUSES to establish any post game. So, how can he be considered the best?
There is more to the game than the stat sheet by the way. Hockey assist arent counted. an altered shot. etc etc.
He was outplayed, in all or at crucial times, by Dirk, Kidd, JT, Chalmers, Bosh, and Wade in the finals. At any given time, he was the SEVENTH best player on the court. SEVENTH. and as Shaq (who I hate) said, he deferred to CHALMERS in the 4th quarter of the finals. WTF is that? Then TWO years ago he quit. I don't care what anyone says, he quit on his team against the Celtics. to me it takes a lot to live that down and be considered the best. The "best player in the league" quit on his team. Don't give me the BS about how bad that team was either. It was a collection of players built AROUND Lebron. I understand their record last year, but they lost the person the team was built for. Surrounded with shooters to kick the ball out to, but no one was a shot creator. I may get flamed for that, but that Cavs team was not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Everyone is just drinking the Lebron Kool Aid IMO. If we are talking based on last year and assuming they live up to it this year, therefore we are talking the five best players for the 2011-12 season that wont happen, and rings/playoffs do not matter then why is Zach Randolph not in anyone's top five? Please tell me someone with a bigger impact on their team... GRIZZLIES had a bigger impact. I will not give my top five, I don't know the order. Bron is their, not #1 though... My problem, I am confused on what is being argued. Everyone else problem seems to be definition of best. Sorry for the essay Thats all |

^ You are completely right.
I just don't see how a player missing that many facets to his game can be considered the best. I can't believe I didn't bring up his non existent post game either. I don't want to hear **** about him not needing a post game, because he obviously does if he could not make more than one basket in the finals in the last 12 minutes of every game. Only player you forgot to mention G.D.I. was Deshawn Stevenson....He out played Lebron. Heat fans were ready to kill Lebron after the finals. ![]() I'm not even saying Kobe is the best player in the NBA, but he's still better than Lebron at 33 years of age and going on to his 16th season. Dirk easily had the best season, and I wouldn't be mad if someone said he was the best player last year because he clearly was. I know that will all change in the next coming season so that is why I don't have a problem with that. On another Kobe note, he still has at least 2 on top years left under his belt. Don't be surprised if you keep hearing about KB being on top for another 2-3 years. Haters will be dissapointed.

Who had a better playoff performance last season other than Dirk? Honestly, I am not sure any player did. And Z. Randolph without a doubt put up one of the five best performances last year in the playoffs, despite going out in the second round. I do not think Randolph is top five, I am just trying to determine where everyone's statements are coming from.

Yeah, you guys made me rethink. He can't be considered the best while he lacks a bunch of things.
So, I'd put Wade at number 1 then.

No way in hell D-Wade is the best player in the NBA.
Ima just sit here and say Dirk is the current best player in the league and that it will be very short lived once the next season starts.
