Whenever the four year rotation of the Summer Olympic Games rolls around, it’s pretty much a guarantee that you’ll see sneaker companies latching onto the theme for a gang of commemorative releases. And while we’re sure that the newer Jordan Brand models will see plenty of play during that time, it’s hard to anticipate any Olympic-involved sneaker eclipsing the excitement surround the upcoming Air Jordan VI ‘Olympic retro. We already confirmed the swirling rumors and info is starting to cement, with an apparent 7/7 release date. It seems like yesterday when the Redeem Team reestablished USA Basketball dominance, Michael Phelps swept swimming gold and China put on a show for the ages in Beijing, but the 2012 London Olympics are right around the corner. With that, you know several special sneakers are on the way, one rumored to be the highly popular "Olympic" Air Jordan Retro 6.

The "Olympic" 6 was worn by Team Jordan athletes Ray Allen and Vin Baker en route to a Gold Medal in the 2000 Sydney Olympic Games. In September of that year, they were released in limited quantities, available at select Jordan retailers and urban accounts. Over the years, the shoe has become one of the more sought after Jordan retros, prices reaching as high as $1,000 for a deadstock pair. To the delight of many collectors, it appears that the "Olympics" are set for another run this summer.

Here's a look at what is believed to be the 2012 "Olympic" Air Jordan Retro 6. Give or take a few differences with the leather and overall shape, you're looking at a shoe that is pretty similar to the pair that dropped twelve years ago. As of now, they're rumored to be releasing in July, the month that the Summer Olympics begin. No confirmation on that just yet, but we'll keep you as informed as possible here at Sole Collector.

I respectfully disagree. That 2012 midsole is just paint chipping waiting to happen. I'm all in though despite the fact that I still have a DS wearable '00 pair on ice. Hope that midsole color blocking is fixed before the actual release date if not then IT!!

These will be copped along with the Oly VII's. Never owned a pair of these. I hope the midsole comes out like the OG, if not f*** it. These will look good on feet in the summer.
