Decent ideas floating around, bottom line is this will just create more hype for Nike resulting in more sales.
I like the notion of a pre buy system based on an annual fee. I say there should begeneral release shoes for the public, make plenty and make them easy to get. Then the limited or hyped shoes can be based on a pre buy system with tiers like gonzo describes. Big buy-in may keep small resellers out and leave others the option to invest or not.

Nike Store Launches New Twitter RSVP Release System
Since the sneaker game has gotten out of hand per-say Nike Store locations are gearing up to release their kicks via a Twitter RSVP Release System! All the details can be seen below and aside from this new way of releasing shoes for NikeStore’s, Nike has also banned in-store midnight releases and pre-orders for retailers and suggested that retailers do a raffle type launch to cut down on the campouts and make things a bit more safe for everyone. Check the full writeup below for the Nike Store Twitter RSVP system release info: Nike Store Launches – Twitter RSVP Twitter RSVP is used to help manage product launches at Nike Stores. Follow your local Nike Store on Twitter for launch announcements and frequent updates. The Twitter RSVP Process: -On the RSVP date, our store will send a tweet at a random time to begin our Twitter RSVP process, including a product specific hashtag (#tag). -Once registration is open, you must Direct Message(“DM”) the store within 60 minutes. The DM must include: 1) The product-specific #tag tweeted by the store 2) The last 4 digits of your State/Passport/Military/School ID number 3) Your shoe size (limit one). Confirmations from the store will be sent via DM to those who have successfully secured their requested size. Shoes will be awarded on a “first respond, first serve” basis. Confirmed recipients must pick up their product (in person w/ identification) from the store on the day of launch. Unclaimed product will be announced on Twitter and will be re-released at the store’s discretion. How do you properly RSVP through DM? Here’s an example: 1. Store Tweet: 2. Twitter #RSVP is now open for the Air Foamposite One.#Electrolime 3. Consumer Response (DM): 4. #Electrolime, 4253, 10.5(For more information about sending a DM, see the Twitter Help Center.) well here's a start
Nike will officially launch its Twitter RSVP release system to coincide with this Saturday’s release of theAir Jordan XII ‘Playoffs’. The ‘Twitter RSVP’ system only applies to the in-store releases of its 24 Nike retail locations and will not affect the online release that is currently scheduled for Friday at midnight EST (technically Saturday morning). It is likely that Nike will reserve the Twitter RSVP to big-ticket items such as Air Jordan Retro releases, high-profile Nike Sportswear releases (Foamposites), and other Nike Basketball releases such as the upcoming Elite collection. To address another concerns, you will indeed be able to send a Direct Message to the Nike Twitter handles, as they are Verified and don’t need to be following you in order for a DM to be sent. Be on the lookout for the RSVP today – full instructions are just below (or click here). Air Jordan XII ‘Playoffs’ |

@nikestore: NikeStore Update: Our NikeStore launches are moving to no earlier than 8AM Eastern / 5AM Pacific on the day of launch.
that blows for us west coast people if this is true. I don't see any positives of doing this. you have to chose to camp or to try NDC in the morning Almost everyone is normally sleeping at this time on a saturday

Was looking for this thread.
But Nike sent out a memo not too long ago about early releases. Very small rundown cause I didn't want to hog up homies iphone looking at the email. So no more 12am releases(We knew about that already). No reserves. No displaying and showing pictures of shoes 2 days prior release. No tweets, facebook, tumblr/blog. Something I noticed in the email, they never mentioned any consequences if they dont follow what was in the memo. Soooo.....yeah. No consequences = nothing changes = memo isn't going todo **** to the small shops. ![]() |
