Well, it looks like the Nets just signed the best European player, Mirza Teletovic. I like it. He brings an athletic big who can really shoot the ball.

Deron has already said even if Houston gets Howard, he won't sign there. So there goes that idea.

Salary dump? Because I don't see how that helps the Pistons any other way. Even then why the hell would you get rid of a first round pick for an old ass Corey Maggette?

Nets Lead Widening at Crunchtime? In an interview with popular Dallas radio host Randy Galloway, ESPN's Marc Stein says he believes the Nets are now the "clear front runner" in the pursuit of Deron Williams. Stein points out, among other things, Williams has been working out at the PNY Center, visited the Nets locker room to pick out his locker at Barclays Center, and has spent an increasing amount of time with Avery Johnson, who's not just his coach, but now a friend close enough to be invited to his birthday party Tuesday. Stein, who put the Nets chances of signing Williams at 80-20, said he believes the deal could be done July 4. Stein added that Williams appears to be bothered with the whole process of free agency and wants done with it. As for the hometown factor, Stein thinks there's credibility to the idea that players don't like playing in their hometown. Stein added there might be too much pressure on D-Will to come to Dallas and be the "savior" that everyone thinks he can be. Bottom line, said Stein, is that it would be a "real shock" if Williams bolted. |

how would he be a savior of a team that won the championship last year? I expect the Nets to have some sort of plan to improve if he's going to stay

Memphis offered Zbo for Pau Gasol....Not sure I'd do that trade. ZBO is good on Memphis, but I doubt he produces here in LA.
According to Mike Bresnahan of the LA Times, the team that originally drafted Pau Gasol, Atlanta Hawks, inquired about his services shortly after the ending of the series versus the Oklahoma City Thunder. In the report, the Lakers would be receiving Josh Smith, who at 6’9″ would be much shorter, but if you’ve seen Smith play, you know he more than makes up for it with his crazy athleticism. Check out this youtube video to see what I’m talking about: |

^^ Isn't that what Pau was doing last season though?
He's only 26, dude is in his prime and had a beastly season with the Hawks last year. It was his best season in the NBA. Pau is more skilled, but he doesn't use it now that Bynum is the main focus in the paint. Not to mention Mike Brown can't run the offense right and he's still the Lakers coach. Smith will provide the same amount of rebounds as Pau and can put up the same or more points. We lose size, but what's the point in having it if we aren't using it. Where has having two 7 footers taken us these last two years? 2nd round exits. I think something needs to be done. Either trade Pau or Bynum. I would like someone else alongside with Smith, but at this point the longer we keep Pau, especially under Mike Brown, the more his value goes down. |
